INTERIOR: THE AUSSIE HOME

I recently had the pleasure to guest blog for Interior Crowd - an online, collaborative interior design site on what is an Australian home.

This art-filled cottage in Burrawang, New South Wales by owners Michael and Patsy is the epitome of an Australian home. Relaxed & nonchalant - the Aussie way of life. 
The 19th century inspired antique oak table forms the basis of the dining space - functionally and aesthetically. Dark earthy tones of chocolate brown, mahogany and ebony creates a grounding sense of comfort & restoration. Adding accents of fur throws, cushions, floor rugs and pillows gives the space a warm and timeless vibe. Balance it out with minimal hanging lights for a simple - almost Scandi effect.


A functional and simple way of organising cookery ware. Re-using or transforming market finds and passed down novelty into an understatedly cool display.


Rustic spaces are all about mixing new and old pieces, selecting a few ‘hero’ pieces to centre your room around. Perhaps it’s a statement piece of furniture; 60’s retro sofa, aged chest of draws, vintage drawer re-purposed as a bedside table or a market find piece of artwork. It’s these pieces that carry a long line of history and stories, giving your space a unique feel that reflects your individual style...
